Fishing is a good distraction from work. It's as hard as you want to make it. I enjoy trolling the coastline of Lake Michigan in the spring when the sun is out, the water is blue and the salmon are close to shore. I made some planer boards and have posted the plans at http://planerboard.blogspot.com
Trust me, these are not difficult to make.
